My name is Vanessa and I'm 28-years-old. I am from Adelaide, South Australia, and moved home in August 2007 after spending over four years living in Glasgow, Scotland. I am proud to be an Australian and enjoy helping promote Baz Luhrmann's works through this website. I have been interested in movies for as long as I can remember and worked at a cinema complex for four years to fund my way through a University degree. During this time, I developed a fascination with the movie industry and set about learning more. I found the internet to be an invaluable research tool and I soon became interested in web design. I taught myself the basics and ran a couple of other unofficial fansites before my focus on the world of movie making turned to the remarkable feats of a fellow Australian whom I deeply admire - Baz Luhrmann. While I am fascinated by all his projects, it was the pure brilliance of Moulin Rouge and the release of the Red Curtain Trilogy DVD box set that finally brought about the idea of a fansite. Baz the Great was launched on 14 November 2002 and, as well as featuring detailed sections on his past works, I am now dedicated to researching and reporting the progress of all of Luhrmann's future projects, including his much-anticipated upcoming feature film, Australia. I would love the opportunity to meet and perhaps even work with Luhrmann some day but, in the meantime, I hope this site will help others to learn more about the man who is successfully breaking conventional boundaries with his creative vision and unstoppable imagination, and who is a constant source of personal inspiration.
