The Saga of the
Sunscreen Song

Everybody's Free (to wear sunscreen) was
produced by Baz Luhrmann using words originally written by columnsit, Mary Schmich.
However, when the song was released, there was a huge wave of online controversy regarding
the correct accreditation for the lyrics. It was this controversy that would come to be
known as the 'saga of the Sunscreen Song'. It began as a newspaper column, became an
internet hoax, and was turned into a hit song by Baz Luhrmann.
