Track 9:
NUTBOD (Houseboats
of Kashmir Mix)
Performed by Christine
Anu/Royce Doherty
Written by Benjamin Britten/Hawkes & Son (London) Ltd (publishing)
Mix conceived and directed by BLAM, Mixed by Josh Abrahams
Additional arrangements by Felix Meagher
Inspired by the 1993 production of A Midsummer's Night Dream by The Australian
Opera
NUTBOD is a wonderful remix of the
single version of
Now Until the Break of Day,
which is also featured on Something For Everybody. The original song was written
by Benjamin Britten as a piece of modern opera back in 1968, using direct words and
phrases from the famous Shakspearian play, A Midsummer Night's Dream.
The NUTBOD mix adds a Hindu feel to
the piece, with a rhythmic Indian backbeat that adds a whole new perception of the song.
It was designed by Bazmark to capture the feel of their Hindu production of A
Midsummer Night's Dream, and I feel it definitely succeeds. I absolutely love the
feeling that this song generates, and it is one of my favourite tracks on the album.

Here's what Baz Luhrmann had
to say about NUTBOD:
"Houseboats of
Kashmir Mix is more than just a remix of the original NUTBOD; it is almost another
song, and in a way I think it captures a lot of the feel and colour of our Hindu version
of Britten's A Midsummer Night's Dream that won the Critics Prize in Edinburgh in
1994. When we designed and developed this production in Rajistan, the poetic magic of
Hindu mythology made a lasting impression on us."
