When Doves Cry - Quindon Tarver

When Doves Cry was not included on
Volume 1 of the Romeo + Juliet soundtrack, but thankfully is included here on
Volume 2. This song is performed by the incredible Quindon Tarver, who plays a choir boy
in the film. As he sings this song, he is backed by other choir boys as Romeo talks with
Friar Laurence at St Peter's Church. Romeo asks that him and Juliet be married today, and
Friar Laurence is initially surprised, but then encouraged by the prospect of reuniting
the two feuding families.
The song increases in tempo after Friar Laurence agrees to Romeo's request, and we are
taken from the holy atmosphere of the striking interior of the Church and enter into the
contrasting world of Sycamore Grove.
Lyrics:
How can you just leave me standing
Alone in a world that's so cold?
Maybe I'm just to demanding,
Maybe I'm just like my father, to bold?
Maybe you're just like my mother,
She's never satisfied,
Why do we scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like when doves cry.
Yes, they cry, oh they cry.
How can you just leave me standing
Alone in a world that's so cold?
Maybe I'm just to demanding,
Maybe I'm just like my father, to bold,
Maybe you're just like my mother,
She's never satisfied,
Why do we scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like when doves cry.
This is what it sounds like
This is what it sounds like
This is what it sounds like
Dream, if you can, a courtyard,
An ocean of violets in bloom,
Animals strike curious poses,
They feel the heat, the heat between me and you.
Maybe you're just like my mother,
She's never satisfied,
Why do we scream at each other?
This is what it sounds like when doves cry.
Doves cry
You know that they cry
You know that they cry
You know that they cry
You know that they cry
You know that they cry
How can you just leave me standing
( You know that they cry )
alone in a world that's so cold?
( You know that they cry )
Maybe I'm just to demanding
( You know that they cry )
Maybe I'm just like my father, to bold
( You know that they cry )
Maybe you're just like my mother
( You know that they cry )
She's never satisfied
( You know that they cry )
Why do we scream at each other?
( You know that they cry )
This is what it sounds like when doves cry.
