The song begins as we see the Montague limousine driving through the streets of Verona. We see Romeo's mother and father talking about where Romeo is. They find Romeo on the beach and Benvolio offers to talk with him. This song is a perfect introduction to a desolate Romeo walking along Sycamore Grove. He is clearly a troubled teen, and the lyrics and tune exemplify his feelings of loneliness and despair.
The song is played again near the end of the film when Romeo is sitting outside his caravan in Mantua after being banished from Verona. He once again sits writing in his diary smoking a cigarette, pondering his own thoughts and expectations. The music stops when Balthasar's car comes speeding towards the caravan. Romeo realises its news from Verona, and excitedly confronts Balthasar, not knowing what sombre news he brings.
