Ophelia of the Spirits - New Album

Angela Little, aka Ophelia of the Spirits, will soon be releasing her new album, The Secret Garden, which will be available online and in stores from 18 September 2009. Angela co-wrote and performed By The Boab Tree, the beautiful love song for Baz Luhrmann's Australia. She also recorded an alternate version of Waltzing Matilda that was the final song that played over the end credits of the film. If you liked these two tunes, you are bound to enjoy her new album! Here is some further information about Ophelia of the Spirits from the Blacktown Sun:

This will top off a great year for Angela Little (Ophelia) who was a finalist for the 2008 Musicoz Awards, had two songs shortlisted in the 2008 Australian Songwriters Association Awards and given a JB Seed Jump grant. Her song, Shame also became an iTune's Single of the Week in March.

Ophelia of the Spirits was born in 2007 when Angela Little was studying for her Masters degree in Screen Music Composition at the Australian Film Television & Radio School. She developed a concept that fostered strong interaction between different art forms including music, film, theatre and animation/digital media.
The name itself derives from characters in the works of William Shakespeare and Italian filmmaker Federico Fellini and acts as portal to an inner universe of mystery and magic. It is a musical aesthetic that defies the boundaries of genre and form and is influenced by traditional Celtic and Middle Eastern music as well as Beethoven, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd.

Angela's songwriting and compositional talents gained momentum when she was invited to co-compose Additional Music for Baz Luhrmann's epic 2008 film Australia. In a music team headed by Oscar-nominated composer David Hirschfelder, Angela co-wrote and performed the film's love song By The Boab Tree along with a version of Waltzing Matilda.
