"David Wenham's new film -
David Wenham tells The Daily Telegraph about the new Baz Luhrmann project,
Australia. Produced by Tim Artlett and Vicky Roach."
Written question:
"After the success of his latest film, 300, David Wenham tells The Daily
Telegraph about his new Baz Luhrmann project, Australia..."
David:
"It starts filming the end of this month, beginning of the next. We start
rehearsals now, tomorrow onwards."
[cut]
David:
"We did a workshop and rehearsal just before Christmas and I gotta say, it was
sorta thrilling to see Baz put on a presentation, Baz and CM, as to what he
was hoping the film to be - more than hoping - what he is going to make the film
become. And it was incredible. And then we rehearsed for a couple of weeks,
and then we did a reading and it was terrific to actually sit around the table
and actually hear this story come to life with some fantastic actors involved,
and obviously Baz at the helm."
Written question:
"Being an Australian film set in the country, will you be riding horses a lot?"
David:
"Yes, yeah, I do have to ride horses."
Spoken question:
"And have you done that before?"
David:
"I've done it on a number of occasions actually and I'd describe myself as a
good horse rider, not a great horse rider, so I'm using this project to turn the
good into great."

David:
"I sort of do know what I'm doing. The one thing that I've never got on top of
and I'm going to see somebody about, there's a horse whisperer, and I am
actually going to have an appointment this week with Mr Horse Whisperer. And I
never feel as though I have a total connection with the animal and this man
can apparently do that in a 2 hour period, so I look forward to that."

David:
"Well, what Baz wants us to do, he wants us to actually choose our horse that we
think our character would have."
[cut]
David:
"Yeah, they're good, they're very good. Nicole's very good, and so's Hugh
actually. Hugh's been spending months in the States on horses."

"So this is your only upcoming project?"
David:
"Yeah, that's it, and it's a long one. It's big. It'll go for a good deal into
the year so most of the year, yeah, that's my focus and we'll see what happens
towards the end."
Written question:
"Are the rumours that you might be playing the film villain true?"
David:
"Oh look, I don't... maybe. Yeah, more likely than not." *grins*
