BOWEN LOCATION IMAGES
This page features a variety of fantastic location photos taken by locals and visitors to Bowen during production of Australia. Bowen doubled as Darwin in the movie, and much of the town was transformed into the 'old town' of 1938 - 1942 Darwin. Filming began in Bowen on 14 May 2007 and lasted until the end of June 2007, and there was obviously much excitement in the town. If you were lucky enough to visit during the shoot, please feel free to contact me if you have any images that you would like to share. Click on the pictures below for larger images.

PRE-PRODUCTION IMAGES
A local resident, BowenGirl, has kindly provided all of the images featured below. These images are exclusive to Baz the Great, and also to my affiliate website, Australia: The Movie. The following images were taken by Frances and sourced by BowenGirl. Scroll down the page to view thumbnails, and click on the pictures to view larger images.

The following images were taken by BowenGirl herself. She has also provided descriptions to accompany the various images taken around the town, including a vacant lot which was transformed into Darwin's 'old town' for the movie. I think it's interesting to look at these 'before' shots of the movie locations before the sets were built and the area was transformed for the shoot itself.
