Alexander the Great Next for Baz Luhrmann?
The Hollywood Reporter says Baz Lurhmann (Moulin Rouge!) is
in negotiations to direct Universal Pictures' project on Alexander the Great, about the
legendary Macedonian king for producer Dino De Laurentiis.
The project is based on Valerio Manfredi's trio of novels, to be adapted by screenwriter
Ted Tally. 20th Century Fox is in conversations to co-produce the project with Universal.
The status of two other competing projects -- Martin Scorsese and Leonardo DiCaprio's
version for Initial Entertainment Group and the Oliver Stone-directed Alexander for
Intermedia Films -- remains unclear, adds the trade.
