Inspiration
Baz the Great! has been inspired by the extraordinary vision of Baz Luhrmann and the influence that his remarkable imagination has had on countless fans around the world. Luhrmann continues to successfully break down cinematic barriers and has pioneered a refreshingly unique style of movie making, one that actively promotes audience participation and the opportunity to enjoy a film on a whole other level. Every film he makes continues to push the craft of movie-making to its very limits and, in doing so, he has established a revolutionary degree of versatility in all his works. Luhrmann's unstoppable imagination results in every film he creates being more spectacular and daring than the one before it and, as a result, his movies are a continual source of inspiration.

As far as I know, Baz the Great! is the only fansite dedicated entirely to Baz Luhrmann on the web. I therefore maintain this fansite because I strongly believe that Baz Luhrmann fans should have access to a centralised source of online information, so that his works are more widely accessible and appreciated across the internet.
 

Why 'Baz the Great!'?
When I created this website back in 2002, I found myself pondering over an appropriate name. At that time, Baz Luhrmann was commencing pre-production for what was set to be his next film - a movie about the life of Alexander the Great. Therefore, it seemed like a fun idea to name this site Baz the Great!. This site originated as bazthegreat.co.uk before changing to the current web address around 2007, when I moved from the UK back to my home town in Australia. Unfortunately, Luhrmann's Alexander the Great project fell through and the movie was never made. However, I have kept the website name because I still believe it is a fitting tribute. Also, Baz Luhrmann's next project might be The Great Gatsby, so my site name may soon become relevant to his upcoming movie title once again! :)
